Zermatt is a unique ski resort as the entire village is car-free. The town's air quality and beautiful environment are protected by a ban on all vehicles except for electric taxis and horse-drawn carriages. The majority of tourists arrive by train and the village was planned with pedestrians in mind. Zermatt's unique mode of transportation is part of what makes the resort so special.
